Blue-Black-Yellow
The
great theme is the romantically-imagined harmony of inextricable
opposites.
„Those who want to encounter the art of Günter
Scharein, to expose themselves to his fascinating oeuvre,
must not only swim against the stream but must leave the
stream and look for places which invite contemplation, in
which silence – the perhaps last taboo of our time
– reigns, where it is possible to spend time far removed
from the din about price-explosions, rivalry between collectors
and the turbulence of the fair. The church, his studio,
from time to time an exhibition at an unusual place: there
you do not only find his paintings, but you also find the
way to his paintings, which only open up to the viewer if
one takes time for that. Once you leave your amazement at
the stupendous technique of this artist behind, maybe even
forget it, and then the dialogue begins. The amazement begins,
the being-banned by the blue, the yellow, the change in
the allegedly-same, the minimalism which we know from modern
music. Glissading sound, hardly audible at the beginning,
rising and vanishing into nothingness again…”
(Prof. Dr. Peter Raue about Scharein)
